Donny Osmond made his singing debut at just four years old as a guest on The Andy Williams Show and has been entertaining audiences around the world through radio, television, film, theater and concerts ever since. In a career spanning nearly five decades, Donny has made fitness and health a priority in his life because a rigorous performing career requires great energy and physical endurance.
Health and wellness (additional components of a life already full to the brim with nightly performances at The Flamingo, Las Vegas, with his sister, Marie; and a syndicated daily radio show, the Donny Osmond Show, heard on more than 100 radio stations in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom) are critical to aspects Donny takes seriously.
“Doing what I do, it’s vital I take care of myself so that I’m able to perform at an optimum level,” Donny said. “I take very seriously the fact that people expend their effort, time and money to travel to my venues to watch me perform. I feel an obligation to give my best self to my audience, to provide them with an experience they’ll never forget. Entertaining on stage is like any other athletic performance—it requires that I’m at my peak, physically and mentally, so health, nutrition, fitness and taking care of myself has always, out of necessity, been a priority.”
Add to his performing requirements a family history of cardiovascular disease and stroke and it’s easy to see why Donny’s focus on health and wellness is a passion. “I lost my dear mother [Olive Osmond] to cardiovascular disease and stroke,” explained Donny. “I’m a husband, father and grandfather too. I love my family, and I want to be here for them, I want to love and enjoy them, for as long as I can.”
Because of his zeal for health, Donny was approached by a friend (in 2009) who asked if Donny would consider supplementing his diet with Protandim, the Nrf2 Synergizer. Donny was informed that Protandim had been peer-reviewed with published studies. Donny felt it would important to do his own background check on the product first. “I told him before I could do anything, I needed to run it by my doctor,” Donny said.
Osmond’s doctor, Dr. Daniel Royal, DO, JD, HMD, Physician and Medical Director for the Royal Medical Group in Las Vegas, NV, was at first skeptical about a supplement and its claims to reduce oxidative stress by 40% in 30 days. Dr. Royal watched the ABC Primetime story on Protandim and while Dr. Royal was appreciative of the peer-reviewed, published studies that validated Protandim, he wanted to study it for himself—perform his own tests—to determine its validity and effectiveness.
For the next 90 days, Dr. Royal performed his tests and received very rare and positive results. He then tested Protandim on nine additional subjects, including Donny Osmond, and verified Protandim. Dr. Royal’s perception changed from skepticism to advocacy. He recommended Donny incorporate Protandim into his health routine and to make it a part of his daily health regimen.
“I talk a lot about good health because it’s a priority for me, I believe in staying fit and getting regular exercise,” Donny said. “It seems like everyone is searching for a fountain of youth—throughout my life, I’ve been on the lookout for products that help me maintain my youth and vigor. I’ve done my research and it led me to Protandim. I have incorporated it into my regular diet. I love Protandim, I take it every day!”
Donny continued, “I have personally experienced the health-promoting benefits of Protandim and feel compelled to share it. Whenever I have the opportunity to discuss health and wellness, I mention Protandim because it has made a difference in my life. And I believe keeping my cellular age equal to that of a 20 year old is helping me run around on stage like a 20 year old!”
